The last post I talked basically about having faith in yourself and your ability to produce. All positive thought essentially comes down to that. Self Confidence is the wind in your sails as you travel through life, without it you will be stuck and motionless, too much of it will have you moving too fast and out of control. But now I’m going to spend some time talking about affirmations and your subconscious mind.
Affirmations are essentially claiming things into your life and your possession before you actually acquire them. For those of you that don’t know what that means either, I will break it down even further for you, Affirmations are making statements about getting a desired object, situation, or state of being that are charged with emotion filled with faith. The last part of that last sentence is going to be particularly difficult because the first time you start this, your brain is going to call you out on it. Your subconscious mind is going to reject it, and you are going to have to keep going over it, over and over until it is programmed in.
Your subconscious mind is your auto-pilot, and just like in an airplane, you spend the majority of your time on auto-pilot. So if the computer flying the plane is programmed to go somewhere different then where you want to go, there will be a crash, and you can be sure the explosion will probably take some other people down with you. It is vitally important that you understand that your underlying beliefs about yourself and your world around you control your perception of that world and thus the opportunities that you notice inside of that world. If you never get the correct destination programmed in you can expect 3 things to happen:
1. You won’t notice opportunities to go where you want to go
2. If you do notice, you will not reach because of your self-limiting beliefs
3. Opportunities in your reach but out of view will never be revealed because of your lack of effort.
This is not intended to be an end all be all on affirmations and your subconscious mind, but rather a short intro into this arena. In the words of Tony Robbins, “You behave in a manner consistent with your beliefs about who you are.” So in essence, you could say that if you want to be a strong person, you need to first see yourself as a strong person. If you want to be successful, you need to first see yourself as successful. It’s like the kid that has been telling the lie for so long that he believes it to be true. But let me assure you, that if you can change your inner view of yourself and your world, your outer world will begin to respond accordingly. Persistence is key, Resistance is protections, set the course, open the sails, and let life take you in the right direction.
