When you learn something new or experience something good for the first time chemicals in your body heighten the sensation and the time and location of the event get forever stored away with that feeling in your memory. But after you become an adult and start to choose your own way you often get complacent and happy with your known often times avoiding the unknown at all cost. To put it simply you either stop learning or you stop experiencing and for most people it’s both. Granted yes, every day is different, but if your pattern hasn’t changed, if you haven’t poured some new information into your brain and began to dissect it and strategizes its use for practical purposes, then your life is essentially the same every day. This can be measured by thinking back to how long it’s been since you felt that adrenaline rush that you get from trying something new, or engaging in a deep conversation.
The key to everything in life is having the ability and the strong desire to learn. When you go into a new relationship you normally want to learning new things about the person, you want to figure out what they like and dislike and you immediately began to catalog that information and store it away along with ideas that you generate for how you can use that information to make them happy. When you go into a new job you normally want to learn that job and how the company wants what it wants and why it wants it. Once you get that information you immediately began to catalog it along with was that you can use it to generate results faster and better. No matter what new situation you go into, you normally go into it with a full desire to learn it and use that new knowledge to perform better; when this desire to learn is lost, you become stagnant and all your mental progress stops.
This is why a lot of the friends you had in high school are still operating on a high school level 10 or 20 years later. This is why a lot of the friends you had in college are still on that level 10 to 20 years later. After they stopped being forced to develop by other people, they stopped developing. Learn from your mistake, but learn before your mistakes so that you don't make as many, learn from the mistakes of others. Get out of your comfort zone and learn to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. Place yourself in a position to fail, and learn to succeed. Once you become an adult it becomes your job to push yourself, so push hard, learn to love to learn if you don't already and reap the rewards of it. Every success story starts with a person that has a strong thirst for knowledge, and knowledge isn’t just knowing a lot of stuff. It’s knowing how to put all of that stuff to practical use. The key to life is learning, once you realize that, you will notice that the gate blocking all of life's riches will open up to you.
